Log cleats, also referred to as log dogs, can be a fast and safe way to temporarily hold your log in place while working on it. After your log cleat points are securely engaged in the wood, your hands can be free for scribing, scraping, cutting, and working with your log.  Flip them around so the pair form a “V” and that will allow you to rotate the log while it remains in position.
